A hub site is a SharePoint site that connects related sites together. Associated sites inherit the hub's navigation and theme, and their news and content roll up to the hub.
Can a site belong to more than one hub?
No. A site can join only one hub at a time. Cross-functional experiences need patterns beyond simple association.
Do hub sites change permissions?
Permissions stay independent for each site, with optional visitor sync. Associating a site does not expose its content to the whole hub.
Do hub sites replace subsites?
In practice, yes. Associations create a flat, flexible structure, so you can move sites between hubs instead of rebuilding brittle subsite hierarchies.
